Ms. Andrea
Founder and Owner/ Head ChoreographerMs. Andrea has taught dance for over 25 years. Her dance career was initiated by Dr. King David Godwin, head of the drama department, at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Dr. Godwin challenged Ms. Andrea to be the choreographer for “The Wiz” stage play where she received her first payment for her services. At UAPB, she could be found rehearsing for her next performance, as Ms. Andrea was also a member of M4, the Marching Musical Machine of the Mid-south, where she showcased her talent and love for dance as a Golden Girl at halftime in front of the band on the 50 yard line.
Ms. Andrea had the honor of gracing the Arena Football field as a Sirens Cheerleader/Dancer for the Arkansas Twisters for three seasons, performing in front of 16,000 fans each game. She decided to use this platform to form a dance team for youth in her community at Dunbar Community Center and became the choreographer for Mabelvale Middle School Magnet drill team.
Ms. Andrea began to focus on her passion for teaching and choreography when her job relocated her to Orlando, FL. While there, she was blessed to receive an opportunity to perform with People’s Theater in the musical stage play “School Daze” by Spike Lee and was able to snag the part of her dreams as a dancer in the musical numbers “Good and Bad Hair” and “I don’t want to be Alone”.
During this time, she interviewed and secured the position of Dance Director at Jones High School, the first public school for African Americans in Orlando, FL and raised the bar for all dance teams in the district to follow! Her stint at Jones ended after 11 years and she moved back to Arkansas to be closer to her family. Ms. Andrea became Head Choreographer and Director of Dance at a local studio. Under her direction, there were numerous first place awards obtained in dance competitions and parades, many community service performances and fundraising activities that her team participated in over the years. Once the studio was at its’ peak, she decided that it was time to act on one of her life long dreams…to own her own dance studio..that idea was blessed and manifested itself into Gold N’Glitz Dance Company – where she is affectionately known as Ms. Andrea.
